Mission: To show young people alternatives to crime

Funding: Costs about 15,000. Part of the larger 140,000 a year Youth Reach initiative, which is partly funded by EC1 New Deal for Communities

The Young Leaders Against Crime project came out of a wider Youth Reach: Young Leaders group at City YMCA. Young Leaders was drawing to a close, and for a last trip youth workers decided to visit the crime diversion scheme at Coldingley Prison (YPN, 21-27 June, p7).

Some members of the group were so struck by the experience that they decided to set up Young Leaders Against Crime. The group and its activities were led by young people, with some youth worker support where needed.
