There can be few people better qualified to talk about the personal consequences of getting involved in crime than adults who have spent time in prison. At HMP Coldingley, in Surrey, the inmates have put this to good use, running a scheme where they address groups of young people who are at risk of offending.

The adult offenders, who are all at the end of their sentences, are trained in youth work and communication skills. They work with groups of young people from local youth clubs, schools and youth offending teams, on a variety of programmes that can be tailored to the needs of the group.
