Mission: To get young shoplifters to make reparation for their crimes

Funding: The cost of the scheme is minimal

Getting young shoplifters to do menial jobs for the shops they have stolen from seems a fitting punishment, but can do little to make young people consider their crime.

So as part of its direct reparation work, Hull Youth Offending Team has got young offenders making posters about shoplifting that will be displayed in the city centre.

The project is designed to make young people think about why they stole, what impact this has on the shops, and how other young people can be persuaded to not do the same.
