Youth Justice News: In practice - RAP

1 min read

Mission: To use art to reduce youth offending

Funding: Through Hackney Youth Offending Team's RAP budget

The Youth Justice Board's Resettlement and Aftercare Provision (RAP) scheme is running in 50 youth offending team areas, providing extra support for young people in high custody areas.

As part of the scheme in Hackney, the youth offending team has worked with local arts organisation Free Form Arts Trust to build an arts component into the programme. Young people work with artists to learn techniques such as body casting, animation, screen printing, and graphic design.

A selection of the works produced by the young people were recently displayed in an exhibition at Space Studios, in London, called Strapped with Talent.
