Project: SmartJustice's Young People's Arts Festival Mission: To show the effectiveness of creativity in combating crime Funding: 2,000, from Arts Council England

About 120 young people from youth projects in the Northeast descended on Pelaw Youth Centre in Tyne and Wear on 2 September to display their creative talents. They danced, played CDs and films they had produced, performed drama and displayed many other forms of art.

They developed their skills in the months leading up to the event with the help of professional artists employed as part of the scheme organised by crime-reduction group SmartJustice, which is running the SmartJustice for Young People campaign.
