Mission: To widen targeted crime-prevention programmes to reach more young people

Funding: The service attaches short-term funds from various sources to the Tackle It brand

Tackle It grew out of Sunderland Youth Offending Service's youth inclusion support panel, Wear Kids, which works with young people who are involved in crime, or at risk of becoming so.

It was launched in February 2005 with the aim of broadening the work of the service, to encompass young people other than the targeted group the panel was working with.

Jack Saward, team manager for prevention at the service, says: "We needed targeted generic work. We wanted to go into schools and work with the whole peer group."
