1 min read
What exactly do you do? I support existing childcare providers in the area and ensure they are involved in the development of the Sure Start Armstrong Children's Centre. I also help parents and carers access childcare by providing information on local settings and explaining what financial support is available, such as childcare tax credits. And I'm working on a childcare training programme to encourage local people to embark on a career in childcare.

Describe a typical day? A recent day started with a chat with a studenton placement with us. This was followed by a support visit to a localpre-school to provide updated information to ensure they remain involvedin the development of the children's centre. The afternoon was spentensuring all the creche bookings for the following month had beenprocessed and catching up with some projects.

What other agencies and who else within your own organisation do youhave to work with? I work with the local authority early years service, local training and employment organisations such as colleges and JobCentre Plus, as well as local voluntary groups and churches.
