1 min read
What exactly do you do? We recruit, assess, train and support foster carers to provide long-term placements for vulnerable children. We also provide psychotherapy and intensive support packages and have a same race placement service called Rainbow Families for Black and minority ethnic children.

Describe a typical day. As children's service manager, part of my daywill involve staff support or supervision. I link closely with placinglocal authorities so will attend planning meetings or looked-afterreviews about particular children. I also chair carers' annual reviewsand consult with carers about issues relevant to fostering andlooked-after children.

What other agencies, and who else within your own organisation do youhave to work with? I work closely with local authorities. I also linkwith health. Within Barnardo's there are lots of fostering and shortbreak services, five are in Scotland and I meet regularly with managersand practitioners to explore best practice and plan for the future.
