Workplace: Who's in your meetings? - Claire Singh, midwifery practice leader, Kennington Sure Start

1 min read
What exactly do you do? I'm one of two team leaders who work for Kennington Sure Start midwifery practice. We provide a full service for women throughout their pregnancy and labour, as well as during their post-natal period.

Describe a typical day. At the moment, as the midwifery team is relatively new, I spend a lot of my time meeting with GPs and setting up one-day workshops for the women under our care. We work very closely as a team, so I often carry out lots of work with the other midwives in the group.

What other agencies, and who else within your organisation, do you work with? Well, in my midwifery team there are three of us, but we are currently advertising for two more midwives. Also, at Sure Start we have a dietician, a literacy worker, Home-Start workers and an outreach worker. On a daily basis I tend to work with everyone, because we are quite a resourceful team.
