What exactly do you do? I am the co-ordinator of the Camden Young Archaeologists project. This project, funded with the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund, focuses on archaeology and promotes a culture of out-of-school learning. It will run until 2007, providing activities for children and young people, families and the wider community, working together with a range of cultural organisations in Camden and beyond.

Describe a typical day? During term time my day might include liaisingwith schools to recruit children for the project, co-ordinating with ourpartner organisations, making sure the projects are planned andprogramming is suitable for eight- to 16-year-olds. I also deal withenquiries from parents and other project managers, making sure all theresources we need are ordered. During holidays when the project sessionsare running I take part in leading them, working with the partners, parents and children taking part.

What other agencies, and who else within your own organisation do youhave to work with? Within Camden Council, the lead departments for thisproject are the arts and tourism and play service teams. Our partnersare renowned Camden and London cultural organisations: UniversityCollege London; the Petrie Museum; the Museum of London; The FoundlingMuseum; Sir John Soane's Museum; The Georgian Group; London School ofDiving; City Learning Centre; Platform One; and the British Museum.
