What exactly do you do? My responsibilities include managing and co-ordinating four support departments in our school. I have to ensure that students with special educational needs get their full entitlement and support allocation.
Describe a typical day. I attend a lot of meetings. The main ones are annual review meetings for statemented students and personal education plans for looked-after students. These often end in drawing up individual education plans.
What other agencies, and who else within your organisation, do you work with? We have a multi-agency approach. We work with social services, educational psychologists, learning and autism teams, and visual and hearing impairment teams. Within the school, we liaise with the heads of year and faculty, form and subject tutors and senior managers. In other words, everyone.
