What exactly do you do? We work with young people between the ages of 11 and 16 to try to prevent them coming into care. We help young people and their families to find out what has caused the crisis and to manage their lives better, often in terms of communication or boundaries.
Describe a typical day. The first thing I do is deal with my emails, and then I get on with appointments with families. If the family's at work and the child at school, we often do late appointments as well.
What other agencies, and who else within your organisation, do you work with? We are a multi-disciplinary team including social workers, a nurse, a teacher and Connexions workers. We also work with anyone dealing with young people - schools, child and adolescent mental health services, youth organisations, or youth offending teams.
