Workplace: Who's in your meetings? - Lucy Akhtar, co-ordinator, EndChild Poverty Network Cymru

1 min read
What exactly do you do? I'm based at Children in Wales and co-ordinate a coalition of organisations concerned with ending child poverty. Members include voluntary groups as well as some local authorities and the children's commissioner for Wales.

I work to increase understanding of child poverty in Wales and campaignto end it.

Describe a typical day? There's no such thing as a typical day. I mightbe writing press releases or preparing reports, briefings or responsesto consultations. For example, I've just finished a report on thecontribution schools can make to tackling child poverty. I want toproduce a similar guide for the health sector. I also organise eventsand give talks to raise awareness about child poverty.

What other agencies, and who else within your own organisation do youhave to work with? I work with voluntary organisations such as Save theChildren, NCH and Barnardo's, as well as local authorities and the WelshAssembly. I also work with schools and the health sector.
