Workplace: Who's in your meetings? Wendy McGregor, environmental education co-ordinator, Raglan Primary School, Bromley

1 min read
What exactly do you do? Raglan Primary School is well known for its eco-status and I co-ordinate a whole range of projects that teach the children about caring for the environment in a sustainable way.

For example, we have eco-clubs that meet once a week at lunchtime - every day if we're involved in a big project.

Some pupils are green rangers and they are responsible for tidying the playground. I check all is in order and going well.

Describe a typical day. I'm a classroom teacher and have a year two class that I teach every day. If we're involved in a project, like a recent one with the charity Water Aid, I announce in assembly that the eco-club is meeting at lunchtime and ask the children to eat their lunch as quickly as possible.

When we meet, I supervise their online discussions about environmental issues. We have contact with other schools and environmental projects across the globe.
