What do you do? I manage, develop and deliver youth work services. Some of the activities we deliver include a peer literacy programme, sexual health, anti-bullying and drugs awareness workshops, music, drama, yoga and art classes.

What are the most rewarding aspects of the job? Seeing a change in youngpeople and seeing their confidence and self-esteem grow into believingthey can achieve.

What was a recent highlight of the job? Helping a young person whocouldn't do his alphabet and was too shy to speak to me. A week later heremembered his alphabet and held a full conversation.

What's the hardest aspect of the job? The prison environment can be verychallenging. You also have to realise the situations and circumstancesthese young people have to go back to within their families andcommunities.

What other departments do you work with? A variety ranging from socialwork, education and psychology to arts and drama organisations andVictim Support. Also musicians and prison personnel.
