Workplace: Who's in your meetings? - Anne Harris, director of careservices, Rainbow Trust Children's Charity

1 min read
What do you do? I have been appointed as the first director of care services at Rainbow Trust Children's Charity. We offer support to children with a life-threatening or terminal illness. I will oversee the care services we offer.

What was the highlight of the past week? Meeting some of the fantasticsupport staff we have and hearing about the work they are involved inwith families.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job? Knowing the support andhelp we offer really does make a difference to families in crisis, andhearing first-hand about the difference Rainbow has made to them.

What is the hardest aspect of your job? Balancing the demand for ourservice with our available resources. At the moment we are only able tohelp a small percentage of families.

What is the toughest decision you have had to take during yourcareer?

Leave nursing to retrain as a social worker. I felt that a career as asocial worker would give me the opportunity to be a part of a morecommunity-focused approach.
