Stephen Howard has been made chief executive of the charity Business in the Community, whose work benefits NCH, Barnardo's and Kids Company among others. Howard has experience in industry and has been involved with Business in the Community for eight years.

Anne Gibson has been recruited by Learning and Teaching Scotland as the new national development officer for schools and youth work. Gibson is being seconded for two years from her post as inspector for Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education. She will be responsible for developing the Scottish government's national youth work strategy Moving Forward.

The charity New Philanthropy Capital (NPC) has appointed Martin Brookes as its new chief executive. He replaces Nigel Harris, who is leaving after six years. Brookes was previously research director for NPC and [will start his new role at the end of March. NPC is responsible for analysing and researching the work of charities
