SSA - Where you might hear it: From anyone who deals with workforce education and training.
What does it mean: SSA stands for sector skills agreement. SSAs are documents that explain what skills employers should demand from their workforce and how employees can acquire these skills. The point of SSAs is to ensure there are sufficient employees with adequate skills for the long-term development of the workforce. Every sector has its own sector skills council, which is responsible for creating that sector's SSA. The sector skills councils carry out extensive assessments of their sector's needs before producing the agreement.
How to use it: Check out the SSAs for the different sector skills councils, including Skills for Health, Skills for Justice and Skills for Care and Development.
