LSCB
Where you might hear it: From anyone who works with the young, from social care, education, healthcare and early years to youth offending, the police, sports and leisure services, the voluntary sector and Connexions.
What does it mean: It stands for Local Safeguarding Children Board, which exists to ensure the various agencies responsible for protecting children are working together. Previously known as area child protection committees, each board is made up of representatives from the type of organisations mentioned above. The boards develop preventive measures and share information about children at risk.
How to use it: See if you can represent your organisation on your LSCB. Find out how your LSCB is developing current policy and procedures.
