Training: North Tyneside unveils apprentice framework

1 min read

The youth service and the North Tyneside Adult Learning Alliance will launch the Apprenticeship, which is funded by Tyne and Wear Learning and Skills Council, as a pilot during Youth Work Week on 2 November.

Five young people started a training course with the youth service in April. This is likely to last 14 months and enables young people to work towards a National Vocational Qualification Level 3 in youth work, as well as gain key skills and a technical certificate.

Paula Holland, North Tyneside's principal youth officer, said: "Youth work is a career pathway, but it doesn't get promoted. For years, we've been targeting young people and we had a backlog of young people we were training and wanted to create an Apprenticeship for them."
