Project: Then, Now and Tomorrow

Funding: £3,000 from Lancashire Youth Offending Service and the Arts Council

Aim: To get young people who have offended involved in art

Young offenders in Accrington, Lancashire, used the experiences of young soldiers in the First World War as inspiration for an art exhibition.

Then, Now and Tomorrow focused on the experiences of soldiers from the town and set out to explore ideas around friendship, loyalty, duty and community through the eyes of teenagers.

The young people worked with community artists to create the exhibition at a local gallery. During six sessions at the artists' studio they focused on some of the everyday experiences of the young soldiers in the trenches.
