Issue: Cultural boundaries (2003)
The situation: Young people wanted to improve the relationships in their community.
The area is multicultural and group members said that they felt racism was an issue. Young people attended a Young Mover's training course on culture and diversity and looked at ways to bring their community together, and decided to organise a multicultural fun day. All the planning, marketing and publicity was arranged by the young people.
What children and young people said:
"We attended a training course and then decided we would like a fun day to bring people together. We met regularly as a group and organised the fun day, inviting a range of people from different cultures and backgrounds from the local community."
