Organisation: Swindon Libraries - Partners for Change programme Issue: Support for young mums reading to their babies

The situation: Young mums undertaking training as part of the programme were asked what discouraged them from reading to their babies. They indicated the need for more support and it was agreed that the creation of story sacks containing props and themes for story sessions would be ideal. A visit was made to a local school to see their collection of sacks. The young people were given access to a sewing machine and encouraged to think up ideas for an activity sheet to be included in each sack.
