The National Youth Agency: What's Changed

1 min read

Organisation: Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Social Services

Issue: Information for looked-after children (LAC) settling into new environments

The situation: The LAC Forum, which had experience of the local children's home, was asked to imagine their first day at the home and think about what they would need from a booklet to help them better settle in. The group voiced a need for better information on local services and facilities and was involved in redesigning several booklets aimed at young people, including adoption and children's home guides.

What children and young people said: "We felt it was essential to have a map to help you get about if you are new to the area. A number of meetings were used to plan the changes needed to the booklet and we worked alongside the borough's information team to make sure the changes were sent to the designers for the new booklet."
