1 min read
The NYA has established the Young Researcher Network, a partnership with 15 youth organisations to value, support and encourage research led by young people.

With the training phase complete, the 15 groups will research a range of different issues. In the latest of our series we look at a project overseen by Mencap that has gathered views at Pengwern College in Denbighshire about provision for those with learning difficulties.

Pengwern College is an independent specialist college for students with learning disabilities - its research project is looking at whether the college provides adequate opportunities for students to socialise and participate in activities after the college day has ended.

It is particularly looking at the possibility of staging a dedicated Youth Night, perhaps on a weekly basis. The group is asking students and staff for their views, and making special provision for those who cannot communicate verbally, using such methods as pictorial communication.
