The National Youth Agency: Children and Youth Board weekender

1 min read
The Department for Children, Schools and Families' Children and Youth Board held its second residential weekend on 22 September to discuss diversity and citizenship and how our own communities work.

We were joined by Sir Keith Ajegbo, who wrote a report on Diversity and Citizenship earlier this year and is leading the department's work in this area.

Next year, the department plans to launch a week to celebrate identity and diversity in schools called Who Do We Think We Are? Week. The board came up with ideas on how this will work, what activities schools should do and how communities can get involved.

We also gave our views on Time to Talk (Children's Plan), which is the government's plan of action for improving the lives of children and young people.

We had group discussions and activities so everyone could feed in ideas on how government, families, communities and schools can make sure that everyone experiences a happy, healthy and safe childhood. The board had lots of interesting ideas but is keen to hear what other people think; add your voice to the debate at www.dfes.gov.uk/timetotalk.
