This handbook introduces key themes that will enable youth workers, teachers and Connexions personal advisers to develop creative programmes for young people aged 11 to 16 to help them to become active members of their communities. It will enable them to make sense of the world around them, promote participation and build their skills to speak out about the things that matter to them.
Containing some 70 activities divided into seven sections, and with ideas suitable for individuals and groups, topics include young people's rights and responsibilities, decision making, the importance of voting, social justice, how to bring about change and community involvement, the media and environmental issues.
