This compilation of over 50 activities divided into seven sections has been devised as an introduction for volunteers who want to work with young people. Each activity will encourage people to reflect on their own experiences, consider their motivation, explore anti-discriminatory practice and develop skills to deliver effective youth work and help organisations to fine-tune their offer to volunteers.
Volunteering is a two-way process. Successful voluntary work is based on reciprocity between the organisation and the person who gives freely of their time. Without the incentive of money, volunteers' needs will need to be met in other ways - through offering exciting opportunities to develop their skills, for example.
