NCB Now: Priorities of the Children and Youth Board

During our second residential, the Children and Youth Board took over one of the sessions so that we could tell the DCSF about our priorities.

After discussions and following a vote, we decided that the top three priority areas for the Children and Youth Board for 2007/8 would be bullying, regional concessions for young people (such as sports, leisure activities and cheaper transport) and safety.

We felt that we don't have enough open space, particularly separate areas for younger age groups as often, the older young people tend to hang around in play areas and can be intimidating.

I was asked to follow up on one of the top three priorities and plan a session at the third residential. I chose to look at the area of safety, particularly looking at areas where young people hang out.
