CYB members are drawn from the nine government office regions in England and represent a diverse range of life experiences. Members meet regularly with ministers and officials and have considered and reported on various policy areas.
The CYB members are invited to three residential meetings a year. At the most recent London residential, the board looked at four key policy areas: zero carbon schools, relationship breakdown within families, the Youth Alcohol Action Plan and the play strategy.
