1 min read
In October, 20 11- to 18-year-old members of the Department for Education's Children and Youth Board (CYB) travelled to Westminster for their first meeting with Sarah Teather and Tim Loughton, the new ministers for children and families.

The purpose of the meeting was to showcase key policy areas the CYB has contributed to since it was established in June 2009 and deliver in-depth presentations on work undertaken for the Department for Education including the recent Children's Commissioner review, and child poverty. In front of colourful displays, lively discussions were held on these topics, and a wide range of other issues affecting them and their peers.

Following the meeting, one of the CYB members commented: "I thought the ministerial meeting was a valuable opportunity for us to get the ministers thinking and keep in touch with the reality of the lives of the majority of children and young people in England.
