SOCIAL EXCLUSION: Scheme to engage young gets funds

Youth Challenge rolls out nationally from next January, carried out by social exclusion charity Weston Spirit. It is designed to build young people's self-esteem by encouraging them to participate in workshops, events and activities.

Work will be conducted by youth workers, who will contact Connexions partnerships and other local organisations and charities to identify around 1,980 disengaged 16- to 19-year-olds in England.

BSkyB has invested an additional 500,000 to run the scheme with Weston Spirit in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
