Cyberspace has been funded by 100,000 from financial giant Zurich's corporate funding arm, Zurich Advice Network Foundation, as part of its Kids2Care4 programme. It offers young people on the Weston Spirit project access to six computers. The funding helped to refurbish the centre and will pay for IT courses.
Midge Story, manager of Zurich Advice Network Foundation, said: "The Leeds refurbishment funding was raised by salespeople at Zurich, who chose to give the money to disadvantaged kids."
The Cyberspace funding is separate from the funding Weston Spirit already receives as a key partner of the foundation. Weston Spirit will be given 250,000 over the next three years for equipment and other developments.
