SOCIAL EXCLUSION: Weston Spirit lands boost in funding

The charity, which focuses on helping disadvantaged young people develop personal skills, received the funds from corporate sponsor BSkyB. BSkyB works with the charity on its Reach for the Sky project, alongside the Learning and Skills Council. Reach for the Sky tours the UK giving young people a chance to try drama, journalism, dance and media production.

Liverpool MP Louise Ellman kicked off the proceedings by commenting to an audience of sponsors, trustees and young people from the charity's London programme: "It is an acclaimed venture which should be supported because it works."

Weston said: "We are an organisation that is going to stay because we never let people down. Young people lose trust if those who they start to rely on disappear, and we can't afford to let them down.
