11 per 1,000 children aged 0 to 17 were looked after in 2003/04 (11 per 1,000 in Scotland)

52% of looked-after children had a disability at 31 March 2004 (17 per cent in Scotland)

28% of looked-after children had three or more placements at 31 March 2004 (30 per cent in Scotland)

71% of 16- and 17-year-olds leave care with at least one qualification at SCQF Level 3 (42 per cent in Scotland)

A best value review of Clackmannanshire Council's looked-after children service was undertaken between August and December 2004. A spokeswoman for the council said: "Crucially, the service is generally viewed by parents, children and partner agencies as an efficient, effective and child-centred service."
