14 per 1,000 children aged up to 17 were looked after in 2003/04 (11 per 1,000 in Scotland)

9% of looked-after children had a disability at 31 March 2004 (17 per cent in Scotland)

49% of looked-after children had three or more placements at 31 March 2004 (30 per cent in Scotland)

11% of looked-after children in residential care at 31 March 2004 (13 per cent in Scotland)

A spokesman for Dundee City Council said: "We have been successful over the past few years in accommodating more looked-after children in community placements.

A number of joint initiatives have been developed."
