The south London council has agreed to introduce its Sanctuary schemethroughout the borough after a successful trial.
The scheme provides those in danger of domestic violence with a saferoom within their homes where they can stay until the police arrive ifan incident occurs.
The expansion follows a successful pilot that resulted in 14 out of the15 families involved remaining in homes they previously sought to leave.The families included 26 children under 16.
Greenwich Council has provided 40,000 for the scheme, with 15,400 from the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund. It will be run by VictimSupport Greenwich.
