What it is: The foundation is the distributor of a fund that helps pay fees for vulnerable children at independent and state-maintained boarding schools in England and Wales.

The charity's main aim is to help children whose potential for normaland happy development can only be realised through boarding care in asuitable school.

How much is on offer: The amount depends on the particular child'sneeds.

What it will fund: The foundation will fund places at independent orstate-maintained boarding schools for vulnerable children.

Who can apply: Single parents, relations caring for a child, legalguardians and professionals working with vulnerable children can applyon behalf of a child.

The main criterion is a lack of parental care where no other care isavailable. This can include: the death or permanent absence of one orboth parents; chronic and enduring mental or physical ill health of aparent; sibling disability that could affect the care and development ofthe child; and abandonment or abuse.
