What will it support? A very wide range of initiatives - there is no definitive list but there will need to be some form of social benefit.

Examples could be the creation of co-operatives, provision of sustainable transport, improvements in waste management and recycling, childcare services, or community buy-outs of local businesses providing jobs and essential services.

Who will it support? Established or prospective voluntary or community groups, including parish councils and social enterprises with projects that will provide identifiable benefits to rural residents in one of four English regions - the Northwest, the Northeast, the East Midlands and the Southwest. Projects should have the potential to become financially viable and must show that participants have the necessary skills to run the enterprise or be able to indicate how they will acquire or develop them.
