OPINION: If I were in charge of ... My school - Adu Lalouschek, 9, Holborn, London

1 min read
I play in a concrete playground. An astroturf football pitch is the first thing I would get if I was in charge at school. Playtime would increase from 15 minutes in the morning to 25 minutes and in the afternoon from 45 minutes to one hour.

We have three fences in our playground separating the infants and juniors. I would take these down and create more space.

We lose footballs when they are kicked over into the street, so we need more so we never run out.

Toilets are a problem and some children cannot aim properly. It's not nice to stand in someone else's wee, so I'd add more toilets to the list.

School dinners need to improve. We have overcooked hotdogs and meat that is red inside. Chips are OK and ice-cream, which we only get twice a week, could be increased to every day.

"Time-outs" are where you either have to stay at the back of your classroom, or go to another classroom and explain why you have been sent there. Then we have to write down on a time-out sheet from a list - Why am I here?
