Older people are afraid of groups of young people, especially those in "hoodies", because they hide their faces. Some older people have even been verbally abused by them. To help resolve this conflict, I decided to plan and organise a bingo evening that would be led by young people.
During the evening, the young people chatted to the older people, called out the numbers, made refreshments and gave out prizes. The evening was very successful and the young people discovered more about the lives of the older people.
I hope the young people involved will talk to their mates about their experience and explain to them that older people are not there to be abused. They are people, just like us, but with lots of experience to share.
