My role as a youth councillor is to attend regular meetings to raise issues on what is needed in our schools and community such as free water provided in all schools, sexual health education, free travel passes for students and tackling bullying.
As an Asian youth councillor, I think an important part of my obligation is to represent the black and minority ethnic communities. In order to do this, I go to Doncaster YWCA Women's Centre, where I meet young women from different backgrounds to discuss what we would like to see change.
People tend to view young people negatively nowadays and that's why I think my role is important, in making our voices heard and showing that we genuinely care about what goes on in our community.
