In Practice: Ask the experts

1 min read
We want to involve museums more in our study support activities. Do you have any ideas?

Museums can enrich young people's learning in many ways. They facilitate problem solving, investigation and analysis skills, offer a variety of learning methods and places - and expand young people's awareness of the world.

You could set up a specific 'museum club'. Look at how museums operate, explore activities like setting up exhibitions, researching information and presenting displays. You could make a mini museum of your school or organisation or work with local museums to develop exhibitions or host displays of club members' work.

Museums can also be of benefit in subject-specific study support. For example, cookery clubs could visit a museum and find out how people from different cultures and ages prepare food. Sports focused clubs could ask museum staff to help research how their sport is played in other countries.
