The teenage pregnancy rate in Inverclyde has risen over the last 10 years while the rate for Scotland as a whole has fallen. In 1991/02, there were 82.3 conceptions per 1,000 girls aged 16 to 19, slightly higher than the national average of 77.4. This number rose to 84.2 in 2002/03 as Scotland's average dropped to 68.2 per thousand.
