32% of babies wholly or partially breastfed at six to eight weeks in 2002/03 (36.5 per cent in Scotland)

85.8% of two-year-olds vaccinated against measles, mumps and rubella in 2003 (86.9 per cent in Scotland)

65% of children aged up to 17 registered with a dental practice in December 2003 (66 per cent in Scotland)

6 pregnancies per 1,000 girls aged 13-15 in 2001/02 (7.3 in Scotland)

The Royal Alexandra Hospitals' Maternity Unit in Argyll and Clyde was recently re-accredited with the Baby Friendly award. Ailsa Wilson, advice team leader, baby-friendly co-ordinator and midwife, said the best-practice strategy had improved breast-feeding rates across hospitals in Scotland that subscribed to it.
