Greater Glasgow has had the greatest improvement in reducing maternal smoking across all health boards in Scotland. A spokeswoman for NHS Greater Glasgow highlighted the relatively recent Breathe project, which is solely targeting expectant mums. It records the breath of pregnant women to determine if they are smokers, before offering them everything from Nicotine Replacement Therapy to one-to-one counselling.
