54.5 conceptions per 1,000 girls aged 15 to 17 in 1998 (46.6 in England)

- 53.1 conceptions per 1,000 girls aged 15 to 17 in 2005 (41.1 inEngland)

- 8.1% of live births weighed less than 2,500 grams in 2004 (7.6 percent in England)

- 5.7 infant deaths under one week per 1,000 women in 2004 (five inEngland)

The conception rate in Greater Manchester has fallen by just under threeper cent since figures for the teenage pregnancy strategy were firstcollected.

The rate fell to its lowest point in 2002 when it dipped to 49.6conceptions per 1,000 15- to 17-year-olds, levelling out at around 52until 2005. However, the rate of abortions has risen much higher inGreater Manchester than on average.
