The conception rate in the unitary authority has risen by 0.8 per centsince figures were first collected for the Teenage Pregnancy Strategy in1998. The increase represents five more girls conceiving. In 1998, 339girls fell pregnant but in 2005 this number rose to 344. The level hasfluctuated rising to its highest level in 2003, when 362 girlsconceived.
