19 per 1,000 pupils excluded from primary school (10 per 1,000 pupils in Scotland)
A spokesman for Dundee City Council said: "We're working hard to increase attainment and achievement among pupils in the city's schools. Initiatives to tackle the sort of issues reflected in these statistics are in place.
They range from breakfast clubs to special homework sessions in public libraries.
"This effort is being supported by pupils and families, and the council is determined that all youngsters will get the most out of their education."
