77% of pupils achieved Level 5 or above at key stage 3 Maths in 2002/3 (71 per cent in England)

76% of pupils achieved Level 5 or above at key stage 3 Science in 2002/3 (68 per cent in England)

0.38% of half-days missed due to unauthorised absences in 2002/3 (0.72 per cent in England)

4.95% of pupils taking free school meals in January 2003 (13.9 per cent in England)

A spokesman for Dorset County Council said: "The progress made by pupils between 11 and 14 placed Dorset in sixth place among all 150 LEAs in the value added league table in 2003. Standards achieved by our secondary and upper schools places Dorset in the top 10 per cent of LEAs nationally. There is a strong commitment to educational achievement in Dorset."
